How many albums have pendulum sold

Is it a flat cover like Roy's, or some other arrangement? Les: Could you post back plate photos of your two clocks? I may already have these documented but would like to be certain; all the JUF clocks of this design have serial numbers above 50, and Kienzle clocks have serial numbers above , Serial number: Herein lies the rub.

JUF pendulums very rarely had serial numbers stamped in, virtually all were written in India ink if present. Kienzle had their serial number stamped in when present, but no low serial numbers. Will look forward to your responses. John Hubby said:. The Kienzle has the slotted guides, the JUF does not. The Kienzle has a flat steel cover with the matching movement number stamped on. The JUF has a recessed brass cover with faded matching serial in ink.

I have posted the Kienzle before serial no. I have posted a different JUF than the one currently in my collection. Picture of that one is posted below. Last edited: Feb 5, Thanks, John, but I did not purchase this pendulum so I have no more information than what can be seen in the ebay photos. I don't see any guide slots in the ebay photos but then I don't see them in pendulum 20 either so maybe I don't know what to look for.

I do notice that in Les's first posting the two pendulums are different: on the first one Kienzle? The photo in the Guide also appears to twist ccw but the photo is grainy.

I don't know if that is a consistent feature but they are certainly different here. The ebay pendulum also twisted ccw. In Les's second posting, the the second clock is a JUF plate and is shown with a pendulum that twists cw top right to bottom left so that feature is not consistent between his two JUF's. Don't know what that means if anything. Old catalog photos may be helpful here if there to find out whether there is a consistent difference between Kienzle and JUF pendulums.

I doubt whether I have any, but I am going to do some more searching. Mar 3, 0 16 Banbridge, Northern Ireland. Here's another JUF for comparison. There aren't any slots on the weights, no number under pendulum. Ivan, Are both of the adjusting weights marked F S or just one? F S on one side only Eric. As I suspected. Don't know if it's significant or not. Thanks Ivan. I've done more digging in my archives and can show the following from actual clock photos etc: 1 The basic pendulum disc design with the pendulum that started this thread was used only by the following makers, by year: W.

Kienzle Clock Co, identical design to this pendulum, from to Andreas Huber, for the disc design of pendulums No. Huber was granted the mercury pendulum protection in January All the "topworks" designs are different among these makers. In a little more than 2 years, they smashed the Top 10 singles chart 9 times too. Their name seems to be in good part forgotten in comparison to their contemporary artists, still their songs crush streaming platforms like very few do.

How does this atypical situation reflect into equivalent album sales for the group? In fact, it will also determine their true popularity. If you are not yet familiar with the CSPC method, below is a nice and short video of explanations. I fully recommend watching it before getting into the sales figures. Of course, if you are a regular visitor feel free to skip the video and get into the numbers directly.

There are two ways to understand this revolutionary concept. In the first place, there is this Scribe video posted below. If you are unaware of the CSPC method, you will get the full idea within just a pair of minutes. If you are a mathematical person, and want to know the full method as well as formulas, you can read the full introduction article. These LPs sold well over 5 million units in average with the latter closing at 9 million. By the time Pendulum came out tensions were already deconstructing the group.

It was still a hit album with a very solid 4. Wait, I can already hear people stating these numbers are way under scores of the Beatles and Led Zeppelin albums from the same period. Original albums of CCR failed to gain significant catalog sales since by the compilation Creedence Gold already destroyed their relevance, then the Diamond-selling best of Chronicle definitely ended their appeal. This highlights the magnitude of their success.

Then with the departure of Tom Fogerty and the acceptance of the real band force John Fogerty to step back, allowing the last two members to write songs on it, Mardi Gras flopped badly. The fact that nobody died young, that the band disintegrated by itself, may explain why they have never got that iconic aura many members of the Club 27 have.

Nevertheless, their total of over 33 million sales from 7 studio albums issued in such a short period is still highly respectable. As a reminder, the weighting is done with a 10 to 3 ratio between one album and one physical single. If the career of CCR was already intense albums-wise, you can imagine the madness in terms of singles.

In both Cash Box and Record World, which weighted sales higher, they did got chart toppers, as many as 3 in the latter magazine. Before that string of hits, they managed the 11 single Suzie Q in , their first to become a popular song. If they got known with Suzie Q , their first huge crossover smash was undoubtedly Proud Mary. It broke the million mark both nationally and abroad to reach 2. This was the only song issued from Bayou Country as Green River soon arrived. Minor releases came out for two more songs of the album in later years.

Green River was the first LP to receive a pair of proper singles, both of which smashed. It also made it past a million both in the US 1. Then the title track did fairly less in the UK, stopped below a million in the US but got similar success elsewhere, ultimately selling over 1. It was their first Canadian 1 hit. This LP was lucky enough to have time for 3 singles, all of which smashed.

They moved over 2 million copies each. It broke the run of Top 5 hits in the US with a 8 peak. In truth, it peaked at 3 in both Cash Box and Record World. It shipped a million units, hitting Gold, although this single too failed to prove 1 million net sales when audited back in It was also a ground breaking hit in many countries, hitting the top in Germany, South Africa, Singapore, Malaysia, Zimbabwe, etc.

It smashed in Latin America and in Scandinavia too. It still sold 2. Sweet Hitch-Hiker was their last traditional single. At the end of the story, the group moved more than 22 million singles in a little more than 3 years.

All their real releases smashed hard, each selling from 1. We can also highlight how most of their studio albums sold various millions in spite of promotional campaigns truncated to one single only.

After their break up there is also several EPs which came out, most notably in Japan and Russia. They add for over , units sold, including the top performer Bad Moon Rising , a Japanese release from As a reminder, the weighting is done with a 10 to 1,5 ratio between one album and one digital single. They both top 6 digits in digital sales without going much higher. The second album Bayou Country was arguably bigger than the debut record, so are its songs.

With , downloads and ringtones, it is a solid performer. Born On The Bayou is fairly decent too at , sales.

The 3rd effort Green River includes the first huge digital hit of the band. All in all, it adds for 2. The , units of the title track pale in comparison. A second big hit emerges inside Willy And the Poor Boys. Its usage in Forrest Gump cemented its catalog appeal that now shines nearly everywhere. Down On The Corner has sold , units on its side. It does include as many as 7 mid-range successes.

Another title used again and again in movies and TV series, this song has been growing extensively since its first release. The song also happens to be their biggest by far in most Asian countries.

The career total of the band falls just under 15 million downloads and ringtones, a respectable number although somewhat lower than expected. It has to be said that their catalog is very short with a mere 65 different titles available for download plus a few pre- CCR unknown songs. Streaming is made up of audio and video streams. Music box and other albums come pretty even with around 30 M. You are not reading what has been written. First of all our estimate for "The Bodyguard" is Your other numbers are both unlikely and, since they are not sourced at all, should be ignored.

And finally you should have seen our comment "quoted sales figures are inherently untrustworthy and should normally be treated with extreme caution" and "we don't trust even our own listing of sales numbers". For the next time you update the list, I sincerely think you could improve your estimates for newer albums by including IFPI Platinum Europe Awards in your certifications for albums released later than For example, "21" has a 8x Platinum 8 million award in Europe, which combined with the new 9x Platinum certification for the U.

Thanks for the link. We will review the source data that best matches next time we update this list. I've taken a look at the certifications for Adele's "21", and they seems to be: 8x Platinum in the U. Next time we update this list it will no doubt be there. However we only get new certifications every few years our focus is on older music.

Since you can see the factors we use explained in the text your numbers would give total sales of During the 80's decade, it was said that BAD was the second biggest selling album right behind Thriller. Now it's not the second biggest selling album of all time, but during the 80's it was the second biggest selling album. Eagles album "Eagles' Greatest Hits " was 29xPlatinum for an album released in The albums "Four Symbols Led Zeppelin 4 ", "The Wall" and "Rumours" were all released in the s and have considerably higher overall sales than "Bad".

These numbers are consistent across the whole world we just used the US figures because they are easy to validate. So sorry but the claim that "Bad" was ever the worlds second highest selling album is just wrong. I would like to know the selling datas of bon jovi's albums keep the faith and these days. Details of both these albums are on the Bon Jovi album page. We feel that this does not give enough information to estimate total sales which we would guess at 3 - 7 million.

Our suggestion would be that you look at the confirmed chart information listed on the Bon Jovi album page and make your own mind up. Armed with that data your guess would be at least as good as ours.

I would like to know where you are getting the record sales for Iron Maiden The following Iron Maiden albums sales are what I believe to be true worldwide sales Iron Maiden - 10 million 2. Killers - 10 million 3. The Number of the Beast - 20 million 4. Piece of Mind - 15 million 5. Powerslave - 20 million 6. Somewhere in Time - 20 million 7. Seventh Son of a Seventh Son - 10 million 8. No Prayer for the Dying - 10 million 9. Fear of the Dark - 10 million The X Factor - 3 million Virtual XI - 2 million Brave New World - 5 million Dance of Death - 5 million A Matter of Life and Death - 5 million The Final Frontier - 5 million.

Total - million studio album records sold worldwide. And if you add all the live albums e. Please let me know if there are any real facts about Iron Maiden's album record sales. Thank you and up the Irons. As we've said before we base the estimates on these pages ONLY on certifications that we have extracted directly from the official sites. We then do the simple calculation which is explained above. We continue to believe that there are NO estimates of album sales that should be trusted and in that we include our numbers on this page.

This is obviously due to the sales increase following his death and so I think it's also possible his other albums have been recertified although I haven't checked. The same is probably true for the other major markets such as the UK, so it's probably worth checking those certifications too. Thanks for the update, we only invest the time required to extract and consolidate the RIAA chart as the listing becomes well out of date, but next time we do that this data will be incorporated.

I saw in the list Shakira's album "Fijacien oral" that its certified 8 times platinum in the US, but I think it refers to a category especificaly for the latin market inside the US, where every gold certification counts as , copies and every platinum certification counts as , So it would be 1.

You are correct in suggesting that the RIAA has a special category for Latin albums with lower thresholds. Unfortunately the RIAA site lists these awards as "Platinum" rather than what they are which is "Los Premios de Platino" which makes it impossible to tell which records have Latin awards and which ones the more significant numbers.

Since we cannot tell the difference we will just have to treat this as yet another reason not to trust sales numbers. Is there really a serious possibility that 'No jacket required' has sold somewhere over 30 million copies and 'but seriously' somewhere 30 mill near? As we say at the top of this page this is an attempt to estimate based on the few reliable sources we have. We explain the approach we've taken and given that way of estimating. The estimate here is million for "No Jacket Required" and million for " But Seriously".

But Seriously" sold more copies in Europe we still think that these are reasonable ranges. Why everywhere else if you look Elton John's 'Goodbye Yellow Brick Road' ismentioned to have worldwide sales of at least 31 million copies? If that's true it makes it easily to the top ones.

First of all let us say that we don't trust any claimed estimates for albums we don't even really trust the ones on this page. The number of 31 million is claimed in a number of places but we don't see any credible source for it. The next point is that 'Goodbye Yellow Brick Road' is a double album, some certification authorities and for some periods counted each sale twice for double albums, so in the US where a million copies would be needed to get a Platinum for a single album only half a million copies would be needed for a double album.

Confusion about when this rule held, and how it was applied have led some sites to double or half the estimated number of sales of some double albums.

The largest market in the world is the USA. One would expect that total worldwide sales would be about 3 times that level, that is about 21 million copies 13 years ago.

Our estimate is well below that figure because, like many albums of the s and s, the album was not certified in France and Germany or recently in the UK. As we explain in the text this lack of evidence for older albums reflects a lack of interest by the record companies in paying for the certification, and cannot be taken to prove a lack of sales.

So our guess as to the sales would be somewhere about 25 million copies or so 21 million in plus an extra four million since then.

A total of 31 million would require some kind of major boost in recent sales in the same way that "Thriller" sold a lot of copies in because of the singer's death. We can't see any reason to believe that this has occurred. So we would agree that the number calculated here is too low, but 31 million seems too high to be believable. I see you have led zepp 4 number 2 on your list , I think you have to add me buying lz4 to your list , since I have been buying that album for the last 6 to 8 months , I have bought 53 of them.

Why is sales numbers of all time sales differ then wikipedeida sale numbers of all time , whats going on here. Is anybody keeping with sales numbers , that they give you. There are two different issues here, first of all at least some of the the sales numbers on Wikipedia are clearly wrong. They are quoted without giving reliable sources and are edited by people that have an interest in distorting the numbers. One of the reasons for having this data available in this form is to counter the completely blatant lies that certain editors have placed on Wikipedia and have repeatedly reinserted when reasonable people try to correct.

Secondly, as the text on this page indicates, the numbers here have been calculated based on certification data. The source data we have is reliable, but clearly incomplete. For example we cannot find available data for the French certificates before the early s. We take that reliable data and apply a simple calculation, which is clearly described in the text above. This approach is good enough to clearly show, for example, that "Thriller" could not possibly have sold more than million copies.

We have put a range in to indicate the uncertainty in our numbers. So in summary, the album sales data on Wikipedia is wrong. The data here is wrong, but less wrong than the Wikipedia data.

If anyone claims to know the correct worldwide album sales numbers they are lying to you. The final Countdown sold around 8 million. Why is there not on this list? The albums in this list are all estimated to have had sales of at least 10 million. Sales of 8 million wouldn't be enough to get listed.

Based on those figures we would guess total sales of million. And as we said 8 million is too few for this list. Where's "Laundry Service" by Shakira? It sold 20 million copies.
